CAN FD Conference in Prague

An international conference on CAN FD, a new revision of the CAN bus, will be held on September, 24th 2015 in Prague, Czech Republic.

The purpose of this international meeting, organized by the CiA (CAN in Automation) organisation, is to cover all topics from the physical layer to the application level of the CAN FD protocol. The speakers will report about the data link layer improvements and the impacts on the standardized higher-layer protocols such as CANopen and SAE J1939. In addition, they are open to answer questions and to discuss other CAN FD related topics.

CAN FD (CAN with Flexible Data-Rate) provides for higher Baud Rate (up to 8 Mbps) a longer dataframes (up to 64 databytes) than the current CAN 2.0B version. The usage of CAN FD will mainly be within the automotive industry, where the demand for a higher bandwidth has been gradually increasing over the years, and CAN 2.0B speeds are not competitive any more. CAN FD is therefore a competitive technology to, say, FlexRay network.
